Splashing in the mud

Three to five inches of wet snow were forecast for last Friday, and we ended up with at least 10 or 11 inches.  Then, two to five inches were forecast for last Sunday, and we ended up with at least five or six inches.  The snow made everything pretty again, but poor Jared is tired of snowblowing!  Yesterday, we saw sleet, freezing rain, and rain.  It was a nasty day, but Clara took advantage of the puddles in the parking lot at daycare with her friend, Emma.

The fun ended when Clara fell flat on her belly in a large, cold, wet puddle!
The sun was out this morning, and Clara was all smiles!

Funny Face

Clara has been making her own funny faces recently.  I took these pictures last night, and when I showed them to Clara in the camera's playback mode, she laughed.  Silly girl!

Snow Day

The forecasters predicted up to two feet of snow in yesterday's storm, so my boss told everyone to work from home.  Easy enough if you don't have a toddler running around.  We ended up with only about a foot of snow.  Oh well, Clara and I had a fun day, and I actually managed to get a bit of work done.  Clara painted and played with Play-Doh while I worked on my computer at the kitchen table.  Check out that mischievous look in her eyes!

Happy Birthday to Us

Sunday was my birthday and Clara decided to try out her snowshoes.  She gave a good effort, but it didn't last long.  Maybe next year.

First attempt:

Second (and final) attempt:

Earlier in the week, Clara came home singing "Happy Birthday," or at least "Happy to you," which is her version of the song.  What perfect timing.

On Wednesday, we enjoyed a nice dinner out for Jared's birthday.  Clara liked to watch the fish swim in the tank at the restaurant.  Another year gone!

Snow, finally!

It has been a dry, boring winter in the Northeast so far.  We missed the Christmas week blizzard (and thaw) while we were visiting family in Michigan, so we were excited to see snow in the forecast.  Yesterday, we got about 20 inches of snow in just over 12 hours.  I had to work at least part of the day, so Clara spent some one-on-one time with her teachers at daycare.

Jared had the driveway all cleared out by the time we got home and was working on a path to the wood pile.  His famous last words, "Do you think I can just bust through there to pull out the trailer?"   I thought, "Of course, the snowblower should make it through there, give it a shot."  What Jared meant was...

I should have known!  The good ole Trailblazer pulled him out and the snowblower finished the job.
